A Return to Salem's Lot
Description
Salem's Lot. Population: Dwindling. Primary Industry: Terror.
In a certain postcard-perfect New England town, it's hard to keep the undead down. There, ghoulish residents have unlocked the secret of eternal life, vampire style. Perhaps you've already visited Salem's Lot. And live to tell about it. Now get ready for A Return to Salem's Lot — by quadrupling your life insurance.
Larry Cohen, both an acclaimed auteur of cult horrorfests (the It's Alive trilogy) and a highly-sought writer of police-action thrillers (I, the Jury, Best Seller, Maniac Cop), uses his madman's sense of the macabre and satiric sensibility in this clever, blood-freezing shocker based on characters created by Stephen King (Carrie, The Shining).
Joining in to bedevil, amuse and terrify are Michael Moriarty (The Hanoi Hilton, It's Alive III: Island of the Alive) as an anthropologist asked to write a "bible" for the town's ghastly group, Andrew Duggan (It's Alive, It Lives Again) as leader of the townfolk (including June Havoc and Evelyn Keyes) who hide their blood-feasting bent behind sweet exteriors and filmmaker Samuel Fuller (Shock Corridor, The Big Red One) in a rare on-screen role as Van Meet, a Nazi hunter turned vampire battler.
"I'm used to dealing with mortals that have sold their soul to the devil," says feisty Van Meer. And for all of us mortals who now and then like to go to the devil — and come back — Cohen deals all-new thrills. Gore. Shivers. And mad, mad fun.
