Salem's Lot: The Movie
Description
An evil as old as man.
And a man who fears no evil.
Salem's Lot, Maine. A sleepy New England village, the kind you see on picture postcards. But if you visisted there, you'd use those postcards to send out desperate please for someone — anyone — to help you get out of town...alive.
Ben Mears (David Soul of Starsky and Hutch and The Hanoi Hilton) has recently moved to Salem's Lot. Mears, an author, is eager to write about the eerie, hill-top house where his aunt once lived. But as he learns about the house, he also discovers much more: Salem's Lot is the home of evil's most vile incarnation — vampirism. And the mysterious antique dealer (James Mason) is the ring-leader of a bloodthirsty group bent on siring more friends and creating an army of hell-spawned offspring. So Mears, aided by his friend (Bonnie Bedelia) and an elderly schoolmaster (Lee Ayres), sets out to destroy the ghouls.
But it's hard to keep the undead down.
In Salem's Lot: The Movie, a blood-curdling shocker based on the novel by Stephen King (author of Misery, Carrie, Cujo and many macabre more), director Tobe Hooper (The Texas Chainsaw Massacre I and II, Poltergeist and Invaders from Mars) sends the time-honored vampire legend soaring on bat wings into the modern era.
Salem's Lot. Pretty as a postcard. But kind of quiet. The streets, well, they look just dead. And every horror fan knows why.
